Thor™ Lightning 297 Grain Hollow Points - .50 Caliber

I love these bullets they are the only ones legal in Oregon. I unloaded my elk round into 4 kitty litter jugs filled with water it was a perfect mushroom incredible. they are also extremely accurate and I can tell that the bases are sealing because they have a little more kick to them than a regular lead bullet. 247 For deer 297 For elk.

Here I am on here getting ready to buy more bullets and I just realized that I never updated since my last post in 2022... Let me fix that.

First, let me say that I love these bullets. From the name to the function they are great! Since 2022 I have put down 6 deer with these and while I love standard rifle season, I look forward to muzzleloader season where I break out my blackpowder and do most (almost all) of my tag filling.

From year to year I never doubt the accuracy and reliability of ThorBullets and last season at the tail end of the season, they did the job at 100 yards on my biggest buck to date. A nice 8 point that helped me ring in the New Year with a bang. (pictured below)

the year before that, 2023, I was blown away by the effectiveness of the bullets when I shot a young doe and when I flipped it over, I (kid you not) saw part of its lung that pushed out the exit hole. Needless to say, it didn't run far.

The expansion on these are all you could ask for and pictured below is a round that I found after a hard quarter towards shot that went shoulder to (just in front of) the ham on a doe and was found just under the hide.

From accuracy, to reliability (have shot through 2-3 boxes lining in, shooting deer, and just shooting (cause its fun) and have found no noticeable difference in how they shoot/perform. They are also easy to reload shot after shot, giving me easy opportunities for doubling up (which I have done twice now with these).

As long as they keep making these, I am going to be a customer, and if you are reading this, I encourage you to give them a try as well.

Got these as I wanted to get away from the plastics skirts on other bullets and away from lead if I could.

Googled all copper bullet for muzzleloader and found Thor Bullets.

I love the marketing and took a chance.... I am beyond excited with the performance. Have not shot anything but a target so far, but they were super easy to reload. First one goes down like its buttered, second shot just as easy.

I got up to 6 shots without cleaning the barrel cause I was curious what it would do, and you could feel it get a little resistant loading, but it still went down easier than the second round from the plastic sabots that I was shooting. The 6th shot busted a watermelon sized rock at 40-50 yards dead center and the shot before it hit the small gatorade bottle I set out at 100 yards.

At this moment I am confident in shooting these bullets and will provide another review once I take a deer with them.

Equipment: CVA Wolf with 100 grains of Triple 7 ffg powder.

Disclaimer: The heavy bullet and 100 grains of powder will rock your shoulder. Though it is still shootable, just not what you want to line in haha I was not expecting it as I was using a 240 grain bullet before, and definitely noticed the change.
But I accidently grabbed a speed loader with last year's 85 grains of powder measured out and I could have shot that all day long without noticing, so I might be dropping my powder load down next year to 85-90 grains.
